Don't Sweat It
Don't sweat it, Mom and Michelle. I've had a REALLY crappy week this week. I'll be looking for extra credit points wherever I can. I have not felt good all week.
Deb
Deb
Way to go Deb! Looks like you and Chris have taken over the lead! Hey, why am I so excited about that......you just dumped us off the podium!!
All right, Michelle..........Let's go for a perfect score next week (since it's already too late for me this week because of two 10 point deductions).
Dad just shakes his head when......for example.... I come home late from a girls camp meeting and I fly into bed cause it's nearly 10:00! He wants to go out tonight and that means a late night and since I've already used up my other late night for the week, I had no choice!!
It is important that I'm getting to bed earlier. I am sleeping better. Discipline, discipline, discipline!!

Wow!! Who takes the Lead???
I am so surprised that we are in the lead Mom. Maybe once everyone puts in their points we will Not be in the lead. But, hey we'll take the glory for now!!
You have my points but my weight loss has been
2 pounds - 1st week
1 1/2 pounds - 2nd week.
My goal is to lose 5 pounds by the end of the 4 weeks. I'm on a good path for now.
I'm off a little bit this week so far, but I'm hoping for a strong weekend. We had too many nights eating out with birthdays, etc. this week. I'll try to do better Mom so we can come out on top.
Mom-I'm glad you got a great bath even if you lost points. I prefer to lose my points on food though.(but, not so good for the weight)

Hi, everybody! Hope you're having a great week striving for "healthy living". Last night wasn't so great for me. I watched a little of the Olympics until 9:30 and realized I hadn't put some grapes in the frig that I'd put out for supper. On the way to the frig I ate several of them and I, like Chris, didn't realize what I'd done until they were past the point of no return! I looked at the clock and it was 9:38.......lost 10 points. Then shortly thereafter I realized that I had three more glasses of water to drink. I drank it too fast, I guess, and got so sick that the jacuzzi tub was the only answer for relief............didn't get to bed until 10:20......lost 10 points. I did get my water quota in, but at a sacrifice. Don't want to do that again.
It's all fun and I enjoy the challenge. I had a little prideful moment the other day at the grocery store when I looked into my cart and realized that more than half of what was in there was fresh or frozen fruits and vegetable and I'm loving them!! Thanks for spurring me on to better eating.

WE NEED POINTS
Wenona and I are working on the blog. We have added the contest rules and are working on the partners section, but need your points and weight lost for each of the past 2 weeks to make them accurate. You won't win the contest if you don't post your points - for the obvious reason - there is no way to tally points if we don't have them! I will be the one to update the points weekly, so please POST THEM!!
Here is a little INSENTIVE to post your points and weight lost for the week:
If you post your points and weight lost for the week by midnight every Monday you will earn yourself and extra 10 points for each week you post! These points are FREEBEES. It will give you a chance to earn back lost points for the week and help us get points and weight posted for the different weeks in a timely manner.
Please note that this NEW RULE (INSENTIVE) is on our blog site under the Contest Rules!
THANK YOU!!

WASTING food but LOSING!
Man! What was I thinking when I decided to NOT SNACK, SNITCH OR LICK WHILE MAKING BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER. I can't tell you how many times I have popped in a piece carrot, orange, pear, pepperoni or whatever else I happen to be preparing for dinner, licked a spoon after stirring something, sampled the meat, or pinched and popped in a bit of grated cheese - only to have to SPIT IT RIGHT BACK OUT INTO THE SINK cause I'd let my partner down if I swallowed!
What really bites (no pun intended) was the day I popped in a piece of CARROT of all things and swallowed before I remembered my goal. There was no way to retrieve the darn thing, well not unless extreme measures were taken and I'm NOT going there!! A CARROT something that has NO CALORIES!! I lost all my points in that category and for what - A DINKY LITTLE CARROT!! It could have at least been something sinfully good like a truffle or a bite of Ron's banana cream pie!
Well, as a result I didn't get a perfect score this week! But I did bring in 828 points for us! Also, I have lost a total of 8.2 pounds and am feeling a bit thinner than a few weeks ago! Wish a body could keep losing that kind of weight every week, but I know it will slow down.
Jay - you may want to consider you odds! I have already meet my overall goal for this month. I just have to keep the weight off and keep up with my eating, exercising, and other goals. I'm jammin'!! AND Deb is my partner who is jammin' too!!
LOVE YA EVERYONE!!
GOOD LUCK!!
AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!

Same points again :(
I was wishing for more points this week but I got 792 AGAIN! (sorry Mom, I'm not the best partner)
I always seems to have one bad day in the week and loose points on calories and desserts. Maybe I should work in a free day goal once a week then I can earn full points each week.
Are you sure ALL of your goals are hard enough? Ron sure seems to be eating more than me and he manages to get all of his points. I am going to have to talk to him.
Have A Great Week!!
Michelle

Hi, family! So glad to finally get onto the blog! Wenona walked me through it and now I actually feel like I'm in on this little family quest!
Here is my report for the past two weeks:
Week one: 804 points (I thought I had a perfect score, but realized I'd messed up on my exercise numbers, came up short, so lost 30 points)
Week two: 816
I'll keep working towards that perfect score!! This contest is great to challenge myself to do better in the areas that I've chosen.
Love you all, Mom

I'm Writing the BOOK on this one....
First off, I think this was a killer idea, and much thanks goes out from me to all who were involved in helping put this "Healthy Weight in 2010" together...I think it was Wenona and Jon, and I don't know but I think Deb and Don had a bit to do with it also...nice way to boost the family togetherness and get a bit healthier while we are at it.
Now for the BooK: or should I say BOOKIE:
Kristy, Wenona and Deb are definately the odds on favorites to win, and I don't even know the rules yet>>>LOL....but I wouldn't put it past Christine to be calculating a way to win nor Michelle with her witty silence to pull out and slip in for a win. I'm thinking the boys are playing the mind game, but when those women get cooking I think we'll see who's got the best game... the way I see it, the boys don't stand a chance at the dinner table, which as a SINGLE boy, definately puts me at an advantage, however, I might just like my bagels and cream cheese a bit too much... but hey girls don't count us boys out, we just might find restraint as we wise up when we weigh in... So here are my numbers:
Deb--2.5/2 odds
Kristy--3/2 odds
Wenona -- 3/2 odds
Michelle --4/2 odds
Christine -- 4/2 odds
Mom-- 5/2 odds
Jon -- 5/2 odds
Mike -- 5/2 odds
Don -- already healthy, no odds
James -- supporting chris, a wise choice
Dad--no information as to whether your playing or not? need feedback on blogspot.
Ron -- disqualified for an overabundance of cushioning in the diet plan, restructuring the plan fairly will get you back in the game.
Jay -- long shot 15/1
Matt and Sarah -- Self imposed sideliners...lol..no odds
That's just the way I see it...I'm taking the bets, minimum of $100 - maximum $1,000,000, if you win payout will be amortorized over 65 years--non transferrable to heirs. Odds can change on a moments notice.
Best of Luck!!! Jay

I love reading everyones stories
I hope you know that you guys give me laughs reading all of your posts. Keep writing about the funny things that happen. Us sideliners enjoy a little humor every once in awhile :)
Thanks Wenona
Thanks for all your work. I wish I could help with the admin thing but I don't know what that is. Sorry!
Yes, someone does need to keep track of the points from week to week if we are going to declare winner at the end of the month. Is there a spot on the blog that we could have each name with a running point total, so we know who we are trying to catch up with?
Also, a list of teams & rules would be great. I have the spread sheet that Deb and Mike made on my desk top and I just fill it in each night and then save the updates.
I'll tell you Ron isn't letting me get away with a thing. I ate a small piece of carmel apple with most of the carmel scrapped off and he said it was a 2nd dessert for the week. So, I had to deduct 10 points. What a hard noser.
Good luck this week to everyone!!
Michelle

Need some help
Hey everyone it sounds like we are all on track to success! Great work on this last week. We are still working out some kinks so have patience with us.
Firstly Mike suggested that we all report to one person with our weakly points. I think this is a great idea, as everyone would have to learn how to make changes in the layout portion. It would be easier if only one person was doing this. Secondly we wanted to post partners, the rules, and I thought that maybe every one's goals. What do you guys think?
Lastly I need some help on the admin portion so if there is anyone who is willing to learn what to do or if they already know and can spare a few moments to help in creating and updating the blog I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Wenona

I'm letting my partner down!!!!
This past week has been a struggle getting in those 5000 calories per day as I've been on a seven day fast. I'm now enlightened and ready to go shopping for, dare I say, apples, avocados, bananas, maybe splurg with some low fat yogurt, and work my body back into the right eating methods...You guys should try it sometime, especially you Mike and Matt, I'm certain a 7 day fast would help your accuracy in driving in those nails....you'd certainly be hitting a perfect score again!!!! Good Job everyone, I'm impressed!!!
Noone will ever NOTICE - will they?
No one will ever notice the extra 6 points Deb gave herself? Or will they? All I have to say is it's a good thing for you guys that Deb's partner majored in Math. So our 1st weeks scores are as follows: (We got a good laugh out of her scoring abilities, since she created it!)
Deb: 804
Chris: 828
It was an overall good week for both of us - not perfect, but then what would we have to perfect? So here's for another week to reach perfection!
My husband is really enjoying my "GOOD" habit goal of getting up by 5:30 am. I havn't woke up to an alarm clock for years and suddenly I have one now. So the first day it goes off, James is trying desperately to turn his clock off, only to realize it's mine. He wakes me up to shut my alarm clock off. Day two, I set the buzzer this time, not the radio. I woke up and so did the whole house. James simply says, "Do you think you could turn the volume down?" Day three, for some reason the alarm went off at 4:45 am, oops! Day four, forgot to change the time on the alarm clock, double oops! James asked me why I set this goal. I am happy to report that I have the alarm clock undercontrol. I am waking up before the alarm goes off now, whew!

Thanks Michelle
Thanks for you comment Michelle. I am sure that I will not be losing 7 lbs this week though. First weeks are always great, at least for me, then the real work begins. :)
The Bonus points are based on your actual points earned for the week so your 792 would be the correct score.
By the way I am way impressed that you were able to do so well and be on vacation at the same time. Great Job!
Mike
P.S. Ron, How is the belly looking??? Are you keeping up with your 5000 cal, and 7 hours of exercise. Good thing you went skiing a last week. I bet that you might have even over done the exercise on those days. :)

Perfect Score :)
Hey everyone My score for the past week was a perfect 840. That is if we are all counting the first Sunday as a give me. I also Lost 7 lbs last week. It was a great week!
This is really helping me stay focused. I think that we should add a new rule next time, that you have to post a so many posts on the blog each week. Like three or four and you get 100 points for doing it. Just a thought, I would like to see more comments on the Blog. It helps keep it exciting.
Good luck to everyone.
Mike

First week score
Well, my first week went well. I lost 6 lbs, and my exercising went well. Those darn habits are sure killers, and really messing up my perfect score. Oh, well. That's why we're doing this, right? To OVERCOME those bad habits and make them good ones. My total score for the week was:
810
Going for a perfect score next week! We'll see how it goes. Good luck to all-
Deb

where is everyone's points for the week?
I got home from vacation and expected to see everyone's points for the week posted. You know rule #8- post your points on the blog each week!!
Hey, did we decide that the first Sunday was a bonus ALL POINTS EARNED day? I think that's a great idea- I will use it.
I did alright for being on vacation. I'll tell you the family won't let me cheat at all. Mostly that 5000 calorie planner, RON. I ate a Reese's chocolate heart for Valentines and heard about it. Oh Well, I like the motivation.
My points for the first week are...
792
I lost 2 pounds, but I didn't get points for splurging one night and eating all my Valentines candy. That put me over on calories and over on desserts for the week. Oh well. I think it was worth it anyway.
Good luck this week.

LAUGHING AND LOSING
I laughed so hard when I read Ron and Jay's goals that my stomach muscles started to hurt and then I read how Ron's first day went and well let me put it this way my stomach muscles were sore. Paul (our 4 year old) was concerned about his mom as he ran up from the downstairs and asked me if I was okay. For some reason that blog really hit my funny bone! My eyes were watering and I just couldn't stop laughing. I guess it's the great visuals I created in my mind of seeing you loading up on pies and cake and then desperately needing to eat a batch of cookies just to meet your goals, not to mention your water goal! It was just funny! Thanks for the Laugh! Laughing is such a good way to lose weight. I weighed myself after those two blogs and I was 2 pounds lighter!
So, with that said, I am really hoping that Ron keeps up his blogs. 1 pound per blog ought to get me to my goal quickly!
Have a good day,
Chris
PS - Deb really does have a partner, I am finally online!

First day! WOW!
Healthy Weight In 2010
Wow! What a day! This diet is something else. After packing in breakfast, lunch, dinner, and between meal snacks, I still found myself short about 2000 calories. I quickly went to DQ and had a milkshake followed by a slice of banana creme pie from Marie Callendars. I am still short about 800 calories. I am sure I can accomplish this if I try hard enough. I'll finish it off with a batch of cookies tonight. Oops! I am still about 15 minutes shy of my 10 hour sleep goal. I better take a nap. See ya later.
Back again. That was refreshing. The water goal was great. I took a 30min shower this morning and used a little over 5 gallons. Awesome goal. Glad someone out there was thinking about our water needs. I did an awesome job of exercise today. Stayed on my feet all day. Didn't sit down once. I out did myself and got over 8 hours of exercise. Got done with work at 3pm today. Just great. I met everyone of my goals today. I get a full house on points.
See you guys at the finish line. Hope you are having as much fun as me.
Ron

Official Start Day Is Monday Feb 8th
As I understood it, Monday is the official start day. We need to decide what we are doing with Sundays points though, so we are all on the same page. Either we need to all count them as a perfect day or we need to not count them in this weeks totals, making this weeks total possible points less. We thought it would be good to end each week on Saturday that is why the spreadsheet is that way. I vote for counting Sunday as a perfect day, it will make me feel good. :)
I'm Still waiting to see some comments on my earlier post or does everyone just agree that Jon and I are going to win and don't feel the need to comment any further. :) I'm off to a perfect day so far!

OOPS!!!
Hey, I thought that we were starting today- Monday Feb 8th, so didn't keep track of anything for yesterday. I noticed that the spread sheet that was sent out had Sunday as the first day. Did anyone else start on Sunday and weigh in or are we all starting today- Monday?? Hopefully we can start keeping track as of Monday- otherwise I am already behind in points. Let me know your thoughts.

Ready Set GOOO!!!!
I am really excited to be on a team with Mom.
My goals are as follows..
I will drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
I will keep to a 1200 calorie diet.
I will exercise at least 4 hours a week.
Good Habit-I will read the scriptures at least 15 minutes a day/1hr. & 45min. a week
Bad Habit- I will stop eating desserts. I can only have 1 dessert a week.
(this can only be 1 cup worth of dessert and does not count for calories- it's FREE)
I will loose 1% of my body weight each week for extra points.
By the end of the 4 weeks my goal is to loose 5 pounds.
I am excited to see everyones goals tonight or tomorrow!!!
I am thinking if I eat a lot tonight then I will be all ready to start in the morning at a higher weight. Then it will be easier to loose the 5 pounds from there. What do you think?!
Enjoy your first week of Food Torture- with a purpose of course.
It's not the easiest to keep track of calories but I am willing to do it for the Games Sake and so me and Mom can WIN!!
Good Luck To All The Other Teams!!
I love you all!!
